Spree review: the short answer
Spree is a working sweepstakes casino that has been live through at least September 2026, with help center articles updated that month. It offers free Sweeps Coins at sign-up and lets you redeem prizes by ACH transfer or gift card.
The catch is that regulators in Illinois and Tennessee have sent cease-and-desist letters, and a federal case against Play Spree Ltd was filed in late 2025. None of those matters has a confirmed outcome that we could verify.
Spree suits players who want to play for free, redeem small prizes, and are comfortable checking their own state’s rules before signing up.
Is Spree legit?
Spree appears legitimate based on its registered company details and its operating site, but the regulator letters mean you should check your state before joining.
The company behind it is Play Spree Ltd, registration number 021218V, registered in the Isle of Man at Third Floor, 34 Hope Street, Douglas, IM1 1AP. Spree’s website says all of this (as of September 2026). Its home page lists no license or certification.
On Trustpilot, Spree holds a 4.0 out of 5 score with 10,315 reviews. About 61 percent are five-star and 16 percent are one-star. The page was claimed in February 2024. That was in September 2026.
Three dated items appear in the public record. The Illinois Gaming Board sent a cease-and-desist letter on February 4, 2026, alleging an illegal online casino and demanding Spree block Illinois residents or stop prizes. We do not know the current status. The Tennessee Attorney General named Spree Social Casino in a December 29, 2025 press release listing almost forty sweepstakes casinos, with the AG saying recipients disabled or agreed to wind down sweepstakes play. That has been reported, not read from a court page, and we do not know the current status. A federal civil case, Prince v. Play Spree Ltd, was filed in the District of Utah on November 2, 2025, and has been reported as terminated on March 26, 2026.
A Better Business Bureau rating, the year Spree launched and when its terms were last updated are not yet known.
How do Spree redemptions work?
Sweeps Coins become prizes once you hit the minimums: 100 SC for a prize by ACH bank transfer, or 10 SC for a gift card. Spree says gift cards are usually instant, while ACH transfers take around 10 days according to its blog and home FAQ, though its help center says 3 to 5 business days after verification. First-time verification takes 48 to 72 hours. Those pages disagree with each other, so expect some back and forth.
A playthrough requirement, redemption fees and what one Sweeps Coin is worth when redeemed are not yet known. Our redemption guide covers the full detail.
What’s good and what’s not
Good:
- Free sign-up offer with 2.5 SC plus Gold Coins, though one help article says 25,000 GC and another says 200,000 GC
- Daily login bonus of 0.3 SC per day for the first 15 days
- 200 percent extra Gold Coins on your first purchase
- Mail-in entry with no purchase necessary, using a request code and handwritten card
- Cheapest Gold Coin pack at 9.99 USD, which includes 30,000 GC and 30 free SC
- Support via live chat, email, help center form, and Discord, claimed 24/7
Not so good:
- Help center contradicts itself on the sign-up Gold Coin amount
- No official iPhone app found in the App Store
- Payment options for Gold Coin packs are limited to Visa and Mastercard as stated publicly
- Three dated regulator or court items with unverified outcomes
- What one SC is worth, playthrough rules, fees and coin expiry are not yet known
